Love this wonderful choral arrangement. These amazing voices are from Georgia – the Patriarchal Choir of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi. The choir was formed in 1998 and stands on the shoulders of a musical tradition that is recognised by researchers as one of the most ancient polyphonic traditions – being sung as far back as the 5th and 6th Centuries. Interestingly, during the Russian occupation, this tradition came under severe persecution. As often happens in these situations, the oral tradition held on to the songs and they were later transcribed into modern notation.
