In Phnom Penh, we went to an amazing shadow theatre. Here they used a Samphor drum and two Skor Thom drums ….. a type of bass drum.

The Khim Tuch is a tuned stringed percussion instrument similar to the American hammer dulcimer.

A krapeu (also called takhe), a fretted floor zither with three strings, used in the classical music of the Khmer people of Cambodia.

Samphor (Two-Sided Barrel Drums).JPG

Used in Pinpeat one of the many types of Khmer classical music this two-sided barrel drum is called a Samphor. We came across this in the puppet theatre.

Kong Vong Tuch.JPG

The Kong Vong Tuch is a tuned percussion instrument, used in the “Pin Peat” orchestra.
